Working as the Ball Drops

In four hours thousands of people will be ringing in the new year in Times Square. What will I be doing? You guessed it, working. I'm at KPIX till about 1130 tonight. You better believe that I will be scooting home in a hurray to see Marieta before the clock dings midnight here. Sucks, but you know I had Thanksgiving and Christmas off so I am okay with working. So what perks my interest enough to drop you all a line? Digg.com . You need to check this baby out. I am a little behind the times here. Digg is one of the top social sites . It's a huge hub for things people interesting and I'm just starting to dig it... I'm hilarious. Anyways check out this tasty little tidbit . Too lazy to click the link? Okay, well let me just tell you that it is a story about a nasal spray that may cut out the need to sleep. THAT'S RIGHT! How awesome would that be? You may not be the nerd I am but there was an X-Files episode based on something similar to this. In said episode, the army

Okay, I'm not a violence junky... but these knockouts are awesome! OH and Check this out http://www.sourcewatch.org/

Hit & Run

Yeah so someone hit and ran my car this morning. I took this video on my cell phone and for some reason if I shoot anything it flips it horizontally. So it's like looking at life in a mirror. I hate it. The crappy part is my Kelly Blue book value is around 5 or 6 grand. And because the damage is a quarter panel, rear bumper, AND! the freaking trunk was junked in a little bit... I may have 70% of the cars value screwed up here. Incase you don't know what that means; if 70% of a cars current value is done in, most insurance companies will scrap the car and cut you a check... When I woke up this morning I didn't consider the idea I may be looking for a new car in the coming weeks. Ah Debt... gotta love it

Mentioned in Passing

A couple weeks ago when I put my first podcast up I mentioned Google Reader as the feed reader I can endorse. Well after adding a few more feeds to my reader I have decided that just saying check out google reader isn't enough. You happen to have a Gmail account or just a fan of Google in general you know what Google is all about. So many great free services on Google (maps, gmail, Calender, Picasa, Talk, maybe even Orket...) and the reader is just another that makes me crap my pants. Why? Add all of your favorite blogs, news feeds, video feeds, anything that is a website with a feed and this puppy puts it in order of update and you don't have to visit 7 million sites. This just keeps spitting to you, keeping you informed. Embedded audio just pops up in a little player you wouldn't normally see. Video is front and center. You don't see a million ugly third party adds. You just see everything you want to see in the same place. I couldn't understand why you wouldn

Givin' ya Something to Believe in

So I have an idea for a close out entry of the year. I'll tell ya this much: VidCast. That's right, my ugly mug, in front of the lens, hitting you with some knowledge. In other news here is an exchange between Jordan and I via text today: Beanbag (on vacation in Colorado): I had to get pulled down a mountain in a stretcher today. P@ (20 minutes later): Holy Crap Dude! Are you alright? What Happened? When you hear mountain and stretcher what do you think? Someone got seriously jacked up and needed to be airvac-ed out. Well that's not exactly the case w/this silly kid. He goes skiing, sprains his ankle, and has to get someone to help him out (yes they did help him down in a full body restraining stretcher but when you hear about something like that you figure either an emergency room or a morgue is probably their next stop. Oh Beanbag...

Christmas Day

Here it is, as promised. Sorry about the apostrophe at end. I always have been bad with Grammar.

Twas the Night Before Christmas and All Through the House with an Accordion

Another Merry Christmas for everybody. I have never truly tried to play this thing before today.

PreChristmas Update

December 23rd, we're down in Los Angeles. I have spent the last 4+ hours looking through pictures of me from toddler time to last week for a wedding collage. Marieta is scouring every family photo album we have. Everyone has given up and Marieta is still going strong for an extra hour or two. To know what we're looking at, here is a little taste of me as a kid. Think that's funny? You aint seen nothing yet. Oh and to share a Boberg family Christmas moment... Here's Santa: I'm hoping to have a little video to share with you peeps by dinner on the 25th.

No More Hats & Gloves

Iowa and back. Did you catch me? Yeah sorry about that. I told a handful of people I would call but it turns out wedding planning and seeing family takes a lot of time. I guess I'm a jerk. I left a message here and there to see if some people were free, I'm sorry I missed you all. Good news is we took Engagement pictures, decided on the grubb for our reception, got a DJ set up, and probably most importantly Marieta bought a dress. Of course, I have no idea what it looks like. Iowa is just as I remember it being. Snowy, cold, and friendly. Don't tell too many people but I actually kind of miss Iowa. Mostly the beanbag but what ya gonna do? Oh well, I'll most likely be there again in like 3 or 4 years. I would type more but I need to get Christmas gifts and other bull. I hope you are doing okay in a P@less universe.

For all your life you've cared about people you never really cared about

Seriously Dude, you need to check out The Ark's "State of The Ark" I tried for a year to find it anywhere and it finally popped up on Itunes. take 2 parts David Bowie 1 part Spacehog 1 part The Who and a sprinkling of Rocky horror picture show cram em all into one rockin group and this is the glam folk pop rock you get.So so so good.

The Robots Are Coming

Dudes, I am so tired of not being answered by blogger. They just wont tell me how to access my account. I must have pissed them off. So now I must resort using Myspace's blog... okay, you won this time. In other news, my hertz desk if freaking cold. Union Station is supposedly heated but you wouldn't be able to tell when it's below freezing. It gets so windy and just flat out freeze your nose nasty that you want to shoot someone (I shouldn't joke about that because there was a shooting at the train station down the street... some trucker who designed a portable toliet shot up the patent lawyer and his coworkers who supposedly screwed him out of a grand a couple years ago. That's right, portable toliet. Google the shooting and they show a small sketch the guy made of the toliet.) So Hertz, yeah. Good times. It makes the time pass pretty fast and I found out I'm a pretty good salesmen. Not of those shmuck salesmen but someone who just shoots straight and gets the

Babbling Scribe Podcast numero 1

Right Click the title of this entry and click save as. You are now downloading the first podcast of the Babbling Scribe. If you are reading the RSS feed of Babbling Scribe my advice is check this puppy out in Google Reader . You will get a pop up audio player and you don't have to do anything if you don't want. It will just notify you whenever I add new content and you can check it out. Rock n roll. Okay so I'm pretty excited about this... however, I'm not quite sure about the product I'm putting out there. This is my maiden voyage into podcasting. Will anyone listen? maybe my mom. Will anyone care? can't rely on mom for this one. Kind of content lite, and the editing isn't great but I was in a hurray to mix it down before I left for work today. Yes I am working on Sunday but it's okay because no one in the bay is seeing the Pats vs. Steelers except for those with the direct feed... i.e. people with a dish and people in television studios. Good stuff. L

Infatuated

Podcasting has sunk its teeth into my me and I love it. So I have a list to the left here of podcasts I dig and a few links. Well that doesn't really do this story justice. I have subscribed to about 15 podcasts on iTunes and later tonight I'm guessing I will up that to 30. Back in college when I was delivering pizzas I thought Sirius was the best thing on Earth. Good music, good talk radio, and a couple years later... Howard Stern (give me a paragraph before I can explain this). With Terrestrial radio the commercials were endless and the signal constantly waxes and wanes, and in a market like Des Moines the name of the game is national syndication; however, Sirius digital content, music channels commercial free, celebrity disc jockies, comedy channels, news channels, every sport I cared about (minus baseball, stupid xm). It was a match made in heaven. Now Podcasts, this is an entirely new beast. Sure there might be a commercial or two sprinkled throughout but it is the definit

blowing me... some kisses

I don't know exactly what I think of Walk Hard: The Dewie Cox Story ... but I do know that I love this . A movie about a musician and taking that character out into the real world and doing a concert tour. I have only heard one little blip of the music in a preview and it was just funny enough to entice me to go to this show; "I had a dream you were blowing me... some kisses." Come on, with the right comedic timing that is gold. In other news. I am over at British Motor Cars today and the unthinkable was just said: Setting: Old man returns his rental (a Ford Fusion) Old Man: Next time I buy a car I'm gonna trade in my Jag. P@: For a Ford? Old: That Fusion was a smooth ride. Better than my car. That's right, Jaguar just lost a customer to Ford, because Ford makes nicer cars... Ford has a higher standard than Jaguar? Now I'm not a person who thinks price determines quality or just because a car has a good name it should be a dream on wheels... but Jaguar beat ou

Talking and no Walking

Once again, I say something that I cannot back up. I was going to unleash my first podcast onto the world tomorrow, but I have been dealing with a scuzzed up voiced since Wednesday. I have recorded everything but my guest segment. It's running around 45 minutes and while no one may care about this or even listen to it... I am still excited to get it done and out there. So in an effort to please my fans (HA!) I have this to give you. Next year I am all over this thing.

San Francisco just got a little sweeter

In my quest to find some cool podcasts (my most recent obsession) I realized I could listen to my favorite radio show from Chicago's ESPN 1000, "Mac, Jurco, and Harry" in podcast form. Awesome stuff. I'm in the second best city in America with radio from the best city. The shisty thing is that I could only listen to 15 minutes with a couple of the segments from the show. Who cares, something is better than nothing. I mean I have the live broadcast I could check out... I added a couple of new widgets to my blog. Podcasts, Nba scores, and I am gonna add a photo slideshow eventually. ROCK! Thank God for the weekend.

Awemazemo

This is my future crime fighting name. My super powers haven't come in yet but when they do watch out. Awemazemo will be all over you. I have no reason to blog other than to say watch out. I plan on putting up the very first Babbling Scribe podcast this coming Monday... hell yeah.

The Best Movie of 2008

Be Kind Rewind . There is no way this wont be the best movie of 2008. The premise is mind boggling great. Some video store employees remake all the movies in their shop after they erase all their tapes. Now at the start that sounds impossible but the way its portrayed in the trailer makes it believable. Holy Crap am I excited! The best part? Jack Black looks in the zone. Mr. Black has been in some over the top horrendous garbage recently. If we know one thing, it's that if you put the right actor with the right director magic can happen. Jack Black is one of those guys. Let's list his heaping pile of dung: Envy, Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny, King Kong, Orange County ... oh man just typing these names makes me want to cry. Now what do his master pieces have in common? School of Rock (directed by Richard Linklater), Shallow Hal (Farrelly brothers), High Fidelity (directed by Stephan Frears, okay so this guy hasn't doesn't anything worth mentioning but...). ALL O

So these are a little old but I want to share. Here are we enjoying a bike ride through the Presidio and Cliffhouse. Fun little guy made of tin boxes and crazy stuff. I want one... but it was like 300 bucks Here we are on the water in the Sausalito bay area. I have no idea what is with this bench but dude.... it's funny Finally. Youtube kind of destroyed the quality of this flick but I do love that this store has a mountain of bobble heads. In High School I wanted to make a film where a universe of action figures accidentally stumbled upon a gateway into a universe of Bobble heads. It would have been great.

2008 Election

Before I fly into an craze about this topic let me get in this very important plug. Glass booth Who could possibly have decided their candidate at this point. Now that is the point of Glassbooth.org. You fill in a short quiz and they will show you how each candidate lines up issue by issue with your beliefs. It is amazing. At the beginning of the year I thought I liked Obama as a person and he was brillant in speeches but glassbooth show our comparison (79%) pretty good but Bill Richardson (85%) was right on with almost everything and he hasn't minced words once in the process. Obama is Clinton 2.0 to me after watching so much debate footage (the plus of working in news). Now I'm not gonna tell you who to vote for only, you should check out this site out and figure out if you actually know the candidates and how they line up with you or if you are just riding the popularity contest. Yes Hillary is a powerful women and Barrack is a strong, smart man but there is more to these c

Short and Sweet, episode one

I just updated a ton of crap in my Facebook. Keep it fresh people. When I came to the favorite quotes part I laughed outloud. Running with Scissors wasn't that good a movie, but that turd line makes me laughing every freaking time I read it. I'm thinking of selling my car. I feel after biking to work everyday last week that is really only the mass transit obstacle. After midnight it simply isn't there to cross the bay. I'll be spending my Thanksgiving in the desert, Los Angeles. I don't think people realize that no one is supposed to live in LA. There is no fresh water there and crop growing is near impossible. If the entertainment industry falls apart LA may become a ghost town. After a discussion with Marieta about my Tivo subscriptions it's become painly obvious I actually on like five shows (PTI, Always Sunny, Chuck, The Office, and My Name is Earl). I may have to add a sixth show to my favorite shows. "How I met your Mother." Watch it, damn funny

I'm not an eavesdropper

However, it's really hard to tune out random conversations when you're eating alone on your dinner break. So when you work news, your "lunch break" is actually after the 6 o'clock show ends. I normally bring my "lunch" with me but I was busy up until I left for work. So I walked down the street to a taqueria. I don't know why I went back, my initial trip was not that good and I passed up an enticing pizza by the slice place. Well being as its a taqueria it was pretty much a whole in the wall and close to all the seats were taken because let's face it; tacos are the shit. The only place I can sit is behind a group of 4 kids, who I assume are 19/20 years old based on the convo. So after it is established that one of them is a lesbian whose mother doesn't approve and this girl is going to dominate the conversation. Now considering I don't have anyone to talk to I'm pretty much at the will of the room (no music, no newspaper to read, and

Insurrection

It is a slow news night. I am sitting here with my browser (Firefox, yee-ah) taking up 2/3s the screen, and just waiting for someone to put in a request for B roll. Saturdays can be the best and worst night of my news life. Sometimes I get to cool stuff, sometimes I sit around surfing the net. I know that is kind of lame and maybe shows I lack career driving motivation, but you don't know whats going on here man. (actually I just left for 15 minutes to find tape but you wouldn't know because I don't have a running timeline). Anyways, in my vast amount of time available I have studying some things. Star Trek. Now I used to be a hardcore Star Trek geek as a kid. I wore a next gen uniform to the Star Trek: Generations premiere. And saddly, I even wore it once to baseball practice. I knew it was a mistake as soon as I stepped out of my mom's van... yikes! Well I've been reading quite a bit about the next Star Trek movie and I gotta say I am not even close to amped. I h

Take the Lane

It's official, I'm a bike commuter. Bought my bike last week and I'm going for it. No longer will I be polluting the bay area while driving solo across the bridge into the city. I'm going green baby. Sure I'll need to drive occasionally (weekends and days when I miss the ferry but I'm doing it.) So how does it work? Well I pack all my work clothes in a backpack, strap it onto my bike's luggage rack and take off for one of the Oakland Bart stops. I'm across the bay in under 30 minutes door to door. Feels good. I mean I have to deal with a few hills in the city and work up a sweat but that's cool. I can take it. If anything, I need it. I am not in great shape right now and I keep making up excuses for not running. Well no more. I am kind of loving this biking thing. Plus I am making my lunch (and dinner if I'm working Hertz/KPIX back to back), so I can really control the garbage I put in my mouth. Trust me, this is my second day and I'm wakin

Feeling important

Word is surfacing that the oil spill in the bay this morning is much bigger than initially stated. At 6pm we reported it was around 140 gallons of oil. That's like a 20 car pile up. Well guess again folks. A reporter here at KPIX found out its more like tens of thousands (over 50k estimated) of crude swimming in the bay. OVER 50K! That's ridiculous so of course everyone starting searching for a frame of reference to attach this too. the 11pm producer had me search for info on the biggest spill in the past decade and other spills of note. So I found a few articles around the net ( a , b , c ,) abut a spill in 96 and than ran downstairs to the archive to mill through the binders for Video to use for the story. I really felt like I was contributing. I found the 96 info that was put in the script and I dug up the old archive footage. Pretty sweet. I mean the oil spill is a disaster but finding all the goods, awesome. I'm feeling good... damn good!

Could not stop laughing

Woman: Remember those prayers I gave you for your Grandmother? Man (sarcastic tone): Yeah! They worked! She got into Heaven. This happened an hour ago at a rather important part of my night and I could barely keep it together. Maybe it's not that funny to you but that's the best part of having a blog no one reads I can fill with crap.

Ants in my Pants

This past weekend I watched no football. But it was for a good cause. Marieta and I went to Sausalito, bought something I will blog about once it arrives (that's hard to do), and wedding registry investigated. Okay so none of those are good causes in the Societal sense but it probably meant a lot to Marieta because she would like to have my full undivided attention. Sure I stole a peak at the scores on my phone here and there but I didn't sit down in front of the tube. Now during the investigation we made it up to Walnut Creek (the east bay hideout for upper middle class white people) and stopped by Shane co and looked at wedding bands. I figure its a cool idea because that is where I got Marieta's engagement ring. I really like them and they have a perfect band for me. I found a ring that looks like it could be the source of super powers... now don't think that it's some sort of weird gaudy ring, it's Tungsten (the hardest metal created by man, now that is sex

I slander with the best of em

If you're hip to the world of one PJ Boberg, you have no doubt noticed that I uploaded a few videos to Facebook. One of those videos is a visual aid me and a few of my college chums made for a class. Now it was hilarious and fun to make but I now feel a little bad about it. See I portray a Professor in it named E.T. Hall. See this would be fine if Edward T Hall were a fake person but in fact he is 100% real and lives in Santa Fe, NM (thank you wikipedia). Not only is he real but he appears to be absolutely nothing like the person I portray . See I am cool with making a joke but to completely take a dump on a guy who exists and most likely has never been joked about in this fashion isn't that cool... While writing this I am having second thoughts. I am thinking how what we did was truly in jest and I knew nothing of the man until two years later. I mean in court it's not slander unless what you say or portray you did knowing the truth and intended to damage the subjects repu

Does God love me?

I'm a little confused. God gave me this new job in the field I would die to work in. TANGENT! I've never understood that phrase "to die for." I wouldn't die to do anything. I mean unless its some great cause like save the planet, push a baby out of the path of a semi, or restore the human race from sure doom brought on by energy crazed machines. But not for a job. So I shouldn't really say I would die to work in television. I wouldn't even sell my soul. (but I do understand what that phrase is trying to convey.) So my new job is great but it has a serious repercussion; I cannot watch my favorite shows. Chuck, The Office, It's Always Sunny in Phili, My Name is Earl. Forget it. I am at work whenever they air. Thank God for tivo. Wait a second... God does love me. This job fills my tivo with Patrick filled goodness. If I were at home I would never have anything on my tivo to watch when I'm chilled out. (I say my tivo because it was a gift to me howeve

Tomorrow makes Two

Two years. October 21st, 2005 Marieta and I started dating. Pretty crazy how fast time has gone. I used to say I feel like a 17 year old. Now with this engagement and what not I kind of feel like a 25 year old. Not growing up, just feeling the weight of my rights of passage. Hmmm. Nothing to say about that right now. So what will we do with our annieversary? Well I was thinking this ... that's right. Naked Yoga. There is no way I could go and not laugh the whole time. And it's the type of event that is bound to be full of 50 year old dudes and 70 year old chicks. Not quite my scene. We'll see whats goes down tomorrow. Probably brunch and sailing. or something.

Shaving Sucks

Am I the only one who gets a little knick in their face and has no idea how to stop the bleeding? I am not alcoholic (not even remotely close) so I know my blood clots but for some reason I just keep bleeding. Put some toilet paper on it and take it off an hour later... I'm bleeding again. Wipe it off with a wet paper towel, forget it. That stings and I am still bleeding. I hate it. Okay sorry about that. I don't have anything else to say but I have changed my stance on this post season. Normally I'm all about the League where my team resides; NBA=east, NFL=nfc, MLB=national league. Well guess what the Cubs made this post season, and lost, so that totally negates my alliance with the national league this year. You might say the Bears were in the playoffs a few years ago, lost, and you rooted for the Seahawks in the Superbowl. Well give me a minute to explain myself. Four teams make it to the post season from either league in the MLB, and the season to get there is a emo

Showed up at 2:45pm today for work, low and behold; no shows until 11pm. That's right, college football has cancelled out the 5:30 and 6:30. So the first couple of hours I have spent looking at movie stuff and BS. Here are a couple of juicy yum yums: Vin Diesel may be the new Terminator I am not sure what I think about this... Vin can play a badass as we all know . But the Terminator? The biggest badass to ever be a badass? If he shows absolutely no emotion and pulls off that robotic vocal inflection I may down for it. But Arnold is more of a throw you through a wall bad guy, Vin is like a karate chop bad guy... Who knows, this may all be conjecture. Let's wait and see. and This makes me want to crap my pants. Iron Man! Does that not look cool? Need more enticing? Watch the trailer . I have become a freak for movie blogs. The news and pictures I produce for upcoming movies mainly come from The Movie Blog and First Showing . All right, I am gonna go learn from stuff from the edi

Am I the last to break my own story?

I am engaged. Chances are if you know me, you already know this but I should say something about it on my blog. I should also include this video: When is the date? still kind of up in the air. Mid September 2008. Where? Iowa. God it would be amazing to hold in San Francisco but I can't ask over 200 people to fly out to San Francisco. Marieta thinks it would be better if people come visit us when they have the time and cash. By the time people get some cash and find the time to get out here we'll have space to house visitors. It works. Now what does this mean? I might be talking about this process and event quite a bit over the next year. So stay tuned. PS. Go Cubs!

The greatest thing ever invented. I now know what I need to do with my life. Champion Faceballer!

1 am, not tired

Dudes, I should really be asleep. But I'm, not even close. I am wide awake and dancing around the internet doing nothing. Updated photos on myspace and reading about movies that I will probably never see. Well, scratch that, I will see them just not for a very long time. Tuesday is my favorite day of the week these days. Marieta and I are taking a Spanish class. I am not sure if I am retaining anything but I feel pretty solid while in the class. It helps me remember my French. Plus, I get to learn some cool slang. like Que gran cagada. Your homework is to figure out exactly what it means. Were in the class because Marieta needs to learn Spanish for her job. Half of her patients speak Spanish as a first, or only language. I have to take the class because I need to know what Latin spies are saying behind my back... damn Federales... If I'm ever in another band I want it to be something along the lines of The Federales. My new job is pretty rock n roll. Last week I was sitting wi

Extending the Sabbatical

It is a pretty widely held belief between both my family and my friends that one day Marieta and I will move back to the Midwest, most likely Iowa. Why? Well I was born in Chicago, have lived most my life in Iowa, and Marieta has close to her entire family an hour outside of Des Moines. I understand that "need" to be close to your family. It's part of the reason I like living in California. I haven't lived with 6 hours of my parents in 7 years, let alone the same state ( I won't get into the ridiculousness of SoCal and NoCal being one giant state). So is this idea true? Yes, Marieta and I both agree at some point we will be living in the breadbasket. Now the question is when? I heard last year when I lived in Chicago that Des Moines is getting a NBDL team, The Iowa Energy , which does kind of excite me, is the DL offspring of the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls. I would have season tickets if I lived there. Now when I originally heard of this team I said "W

You're the Pretender!

What if I say I will never surrender? yeah! How do you like them apples. I really dig this new Foo's single. I'm not daft or anything. I mean it's not anything new really. It's loud, quiet, loud, quiet, loud, loud. That's Dave Grohl writing style. It hasn't gotten old with me yet. I mean the songs that rock, they rock my toe nails off. Beanbag made sure to let me know he already has their album. If you know anything about me know that I hate get albums before their actual release date. I love the feeling of buying an album, ripping off the plastic and rockin it in my 'rolla on the drive home. Last Thursday I started my new job @ KPIX CBS 5 . I feel like a weight is slowly being lifted off my shoulders. I am finally on path to starting a career in the broadcast field. KPIX is great. I may only be pulling tapes, running, prompter and minor editing work right now but I don't care. There is a lot to learn and everyone I have talked with there seems willing t

Lunch Break Musings

T-minus two days till I start my new job, and let me tell you this past week of waiting has been painfully slow. I have nothing truly against Hertz. They got me to California, they have been providing me a source of income for barely over a year, but man, this weighs you down sometimes. In other news, the Bears lost. Well I can rationalize they owned that game until the end of the third quarter and even then it took a trick play and injuries to let the Chargers win so that's okay. Now the injuries, that brings tears to my eyes. Mike Brown is out. If Urlacher is the man than Brown is his shadow, every thing he is just without the recognition. That and the rookie who went out are gonna really, REALLY, hurt our Super Bowl hopes. In other NFL news I watched the Niners game last night and man did they get lucky. Stupid Cardinals should have swatted that fumble out of the in zone and they would have won with a touchback. I'll keep you posted with KPIX updates.

She rocks

I would talk more but I am really tired. Enjoy this woman, rocking the guitar outside of the cheese board collective in Berkeley.

Next Week Has Finally Arrived

Next week I start a new job at KPIX cbs5 San Francisco. That's right I will once again be working in the downtown of my city (see Hertz @ Union Station, Chicago, IL). I don't start till next week, but that gives me a week to enjoy the feeling of- what the hell am I talking about! I want to start today. This what I want to do with my life! Work in television production. Oh yeah, my position is Production Assitant. There is a whole crew of us and our responsibilities range from tape running, teleprompter controlling, occassionally copy writing, and video editing. Is that awesome? I do believe so and I don't want to wait. Mainly because waiting means working full days at Hertz for another week. but whatever. Okay. So I'll talk more in my real blog. Check it out

Cross Your Fingers

I am really jumping the gun on this post. Why? I can't tell you. Why did I even bother to post at all? Well its late, I'm bored, and anxious for this week. Yes, I know you haven't heard from me in a while. If you want to know whats up here: That's right, I got my plates. I waited until the ding of the bell. It almost came down to a decision and I don't think I had the points to retain the belt. Should I go to sleep? yes.

Been a while

So this thing is screwed up. I posted that birthday message on the 19th (my birthday) and somehow it thought it was the 20th. I mean it was at like 10pm but that still doesn't make much sense, unless this thing is based out of the eastern time zone. So what was my birthday like? Chocolate Chip pancakes, In and Out Burgers, and a long drive back to Alameda from Los Angeles. Chocolate Chip pancakes and In and Out= Two of my favorites. I also got a couple of cool gifts; a few shirts with matching ties (the true sign of growing up was that I was excited to see them...), a picnic basket designed to carry two bottles of wine, a few cards, and a NINTENDO WII from Marieta. Have I mentioned I love her? I am all over that thing. I immediately got Madden and a second Wii mote. I could go on forever about the wii but I'm on lunch so that will have to wait for another day. A Big One

I am 25 years old today. There are some very interesting coincidences that go along with people who also share this birthday. Matthew Perry, 37 today: Played my favorite character on Friends, is damn funny. Gene Roddenberry, died '91: Invented Star Trek of which I was a huge fan John Stamos, 43: is the man. Jonathan Frakes, 54: The 2nd in command of the Star Trek Enterprise... two star trek references on one date? bizarre n'est pas? Bill Clinton, 60: It is a crying shame this man is only 60 and he can't be our president anymore. Our government is F-ed up.

Alaska

Alaska was really really cool. I want to write a big long post but its been a while and I'm kind of lazy. If you want to check out my pictures go for it. There are also a ton of videos . I hiked a mountain, drank some great beers, saw a glacier, and ate the best fish in my life. I will go back several times, when it is feasible. Sorry it's been so long. Hey, here is the funniest one: 12 bering sea cards.avi I've decided to add another widget. It will showcase the best crazy bits of hilarity that I encounter in San Francisco.

Back from The Final Frontier

No joke, that's what they call Alaska. Well... one of the many things they call it. Okay, so I have tons of things to say and show you. For now let me just apologize for the fact that I was in Alaska for a week and only posted once. I had about 5 minutes of computer use Thursday morning. THAT WAS IT! I need a lap top. Okay, it's time to shower, go grocery shopping, and see the simpsons movie!

The ONLY post I'll make from anchorage

mvi_0517.avi sorry, short on time. catch you up later.

Alaskan Adventure: The Phantom Post

Before Alaska Okay so I have some issue with talking with a childish voice when a camera is on me. I started doing it pretty much after I started dating Marieta... who am I kidding I am child. So this post presupposes a lot. I don't know if I will have the internet anywhere, I don't know if I can upload pictures, and I don't know if anyone even cares. Either way I hope you check in over the course of the week and see me and my beautiful girlfriend enjoying our vacation in the great north .

Cartography is my passion

In case you have noticed all these new widgets (that's blog lingo for these cool little guys to my left), I have started linking to cool shit around the web. Look down the page a bit and you will notice the Cartography links. I have started dumping serious man hours into these maps and I am in love with how fun it is. I am gonna add pictures and video to my points of interest and soon I will rule the world. The news map is the Food and Fun map. Just started building it today. Right now they are not in a special order but as I get it up to date all the new place I eat will pop up at the bottom of the list. Get with it people. Cartography rules.

Indo Board Mania

Image
Someday I will surf. It just looks too cool and peaceful. Today is not that day, but I do have an indo board . A balance training plank of wood that rolls on a hard plastic tube thing. I got a discount when I bought it because I bought the floor model. The other one with the design just didn't do it for me. Here are some videos of the board in action, from first use to a couple nights ago. Indo in the in the store P@ on the indo board at home Here are a couple of Marieta on the board: Watch her work turtle on the indo Yes thank you, thank you. we are awesome.

Before the trip up north

Let me share a secret with you. I haven't dropped a single cent on this trip to Alaska yet. I will probably only spend a hundred (maybe less) the entire time I am there. That's right, Marieta and I am are riding on someone else's dime to one of the coolest places I will ever go, Alaska. Who is paying Marieta's parents. It's an awkward situation to be in. I mean my parents have paid for several of my vacations but never anyone else. I don't know how to operate in it really. Vacation to me is about adventure and having a good time. If someone else is paying pretty much your whole way do you get a say in what activities you partake in? where you stay? it's a gray area. I really want to get out and high some mountains. That is at the top of my list. Followed closely by doin something crazy. I don't know what but it needs to be something I have never done before and fun to the max. Will these happen? sure they will but I don't really feel like I should d

Quakes

Last night around 4:45am I felt my first California EarthQuake . Awesome, but still the idea is a little frightening.

Pizza

Image
I love pizza. The question is, who doesn't? Cheese baked all over some delicious bread, some salted meats, maybe some spices if you're adventurous. Yesterday, after I got off from work, Marieta and I headed over to the famed Monterrey Market. Being as it was 2.15 and neither of us had eaten lunch we decided to hit up the delish pizza joint just up the street Gioia Pizzeria. Now we've been there before but this place tugs at our hearts in the battle of Best pizza place in town. Pizza has changed man. Up until I was probably 22 or 23 I wanted my pizza to be classic (I grew up in the midwest. In 90's Iowa's best pizza was toss up between Pizza Hut and Little Ceaser's. Don't get me wrong I still love a pan pizza from pizza hut but it is fast food (oh that reminds me of a topic for a future post.) Chicago is pretty much the mecca for pizza of that genre. Deep Dish, greasy floppy slices, large new york style, etc. It's all in the windy city. California style?

Thoughts on an Absurd movie

The Devil Wears Prada is trash. The editor and chief from Northwestern University gets a job at a fashion magazine and goes to her 2nd interview with her potential boss completely unprepared (not to mention unkempt), and some how gets a job working for the "dragonlady." Bullshit. Who goes into an interview not knowing her potential boss, not knowing the company, the culture, what to expect for questions, and how to answer and dodge those questions. She would have googled her boss, the HR would have told her about Miranda (her soon to be boss), her friends who she has most definitely told about a second interview would let her in on Runway (because they all know 1000% more about the fashion world than her, and she would have been somewhat prepared. This movie got about as many good press clippings as Santa gets letters in the mail. As far as I can tell the only good qualities in this movie are that Meryl Streep continues to solidify her position as the best actress of all time

No time to talk about it

But today we are going to Santa Cruz. P.S. those summer league games look tough.

Christmas in July

In Chicago our cable bill was (hold your breath) $103 a month. Comcast is such a bitch. We weren't allowed by lease to have dishes on our building so we were pretty much screwed into Comcast. Now that was internet and Cable w/the box but we didn't have like 300 channels or anything, so we were getting up the tailpipe pretty bad. The comcast setup was get all three services: Phone, Internet, and Cable tv for 99 bucks. Well that's all well and good if you need all three of those services but their phone service was loaded with all sorts of options that we didn't need and there were hidden charges (of course) what they didn't tell you is that you were gonna pay the same amount for the other two services at the same cost if you turn down the phone service. So we turned it down and then later learned its a hook up time promotion only. Funk you very much Comcast. That's what a town looks like when the cable provider holds a monopoly. Now the bay area, it's a nice

Ocean's of inspiration

So after seeing Ocean's 13 I have been all hyped up. I love that movie. The best of the three by far. But you know what the best part is? The Soundtrack. Oh my god the bass and drums on that soundtrack just rock so hard. I'm all over it. It has truly excited me. I haven't been very excited by any music lately (previous purchases aside). So now what? I want to write music that is cool enough it could be on an Ocean's soundtrack. I'm tired of punk and screaminess. So that's it. My new tunes are gonna be inspired by three things David Holmes work on this soundtrack, Rx Bandits (because they rock and groove), and finally The Chemical Brothers. They always come with the goods. Including their album which drops next month. They are one of my top friends on myspace. Give it a listen, they put the entire album up there..

Robo Boogie

A week ago my life was changed. forever. The reason? Flight Of The Concords. If you have HBO and have witnessed this most awesome and life changing group you know what I am talking about. But maybe you dont! You may only know the half of it. If you have HBO on demand you should watch their live performance. He-lair-e-us. You need to check it out. I am not doing them justice. Take a listen for yourself. After you have realized how truly awesome they are, tune in on Sunday nights. The Humans are Dead Add to My Profile | More Videos

Follow the Dancing Tagents

As you may know I am sick with love for Google Maps. Make your own map, find business, look at satellite shots, and if you're lucky enough to live in a city as cool as San Francisco, you can place this happy little dude anywhere in the city and you will see what he sees! It almost takes you all the way to my house! Luckily my fortress of solitude is still hidden from the Information Super Highway. So see if you can keep up: My parents are visiting in a couple of weeks so I have to see if the Summer House furnished hotel style apartment is free for their visit. I go on line to find their phone number on their website. When I Google Summer House CA it shows the location on the map and says 44 reviews. I click the reviews and people seem to hate living here . I had zero idea about this. So after eating dinner (zuchini pancakes, corn, Quesadilla[sp?] yum!) I get interested. I read all the reviews and comments. Not as friendly a compound as I thought. This got me thinking. Are there re

Power of Love

This past week I had the chance to see this show @ the Stern Grove Festival. I don't know how old Huey Lewis is, but let me tell you he still rocks. I have been singing "Power of Love," "Heart and Soul," and "Back in Time" since i saw this thing. Take a look at the crowd to. Considering it was full of like 30, 40, 50+ somethings they were rocking that forest to the ground.

Weekend: Awesome

Two Festivals, Huey Lewis and the News, and a GREAT movie! That's how you make a great weekend. I mean I could throw in Camping and some adventures and what not but I just didn't have the time and probably wouldn't be able to anyways. I want to post more but right now I'm on my lunch break so it's not gonna happen. I will give you one juicy little video. grandmas dancing.avi That laughing in the background is Marieta. These sexy little ladies just would not quit.

A Stunt Bunny first

thumbs up to the bay.avi This actually from a little while ago (like a month). but I wanted there to be some video in here. Exciting stuff. I'd type more but I'm tired. Expect there to be an entry about Ocean's Thirteen in here tomorrow.

I should really go to bed

I have no reason to stay up. Well maybe the fact that its kind of warm and I can't sleep in hot rooms makes me want to stay up... but seriously I should hit the sack. I have to work at 7. Working at 7 should be a crime against humanity. You know who is up working at 7 am or needing the services of a rental at 7am? People who are also wishing they weren't up at 7 am. The sad thing is right now I'm not filling my time with something constructive or even entertaining. I am running around myspace, facebook, metacritic, and wikipedia jumping from garbage to garbage. Hold it, did I just call Metacritic garbage and not entertaining? that seals it I'm tired. Since my move out here time has flown by quicker than ever before in my life. I have almost been here two months. Part of the reason is there is an endless list of things I want to do out here, part of it is I only have a few spare hours in my day so I can't kick back and let time drag by, and part of it is a girls job

BlockBuster July

My rhymes are so potent in this segment I'll make all the ladies in the first two rows pregnant ~Hip Hoppapotumus ~Flight of The Concords So July, let's talk about it. I am going to Alaska. .... ALASKA!!! Have you ever been? HAVE YOU EVER BEEEEEEAN!!!! Well come early August I can say, "Yes, yes I have." and finally I won't be lying. Wait I don't think I've lied about that. Yet. Where in Alaska do you add? Anchorage. I'm not cool enough yet to go to the Aleutian islands. One day I will be that cool but as of now. No way, no how. Well that is truly the only big thing in July right now but you know there may be to come. It is the summer and I am awesome so you know.

You have no idea

I am back at it baby! Almost a year later I am back in this thing. SO much to type... actually I feel a little bad because I gave up on you... well now it's all better, no more posting on myspace. no no no. Pictures and gravy. it's all coming back here. Oh, by the way, I live in Alameda, Ca now! that's right, I'm in the bay area. rock n roll.
