Water Cooler Update

The bit o' news today is the annual BANK HOLIDAY CHEESE ROLLING CONTEST. Take a look. The goods start around the half way mark. Soooo whenever we get goodies like these on the air they mention other craziness like the running of the bulls, the gorilla get up 5k, and of course Tomatina tomato throwing festival. Of course all of these things I want to partake in, and if there is a God, I will. A little bit of news you may not know is Meg, my younger sister, just graduated from Ithaca College and is going to be teaching in Spain this coming fall. I guess I don't know what she is teaching... probably english but you know I'm not postive. Anywho, this will be the best opportunity to get over to Spain and partake of Tomatina. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to do this. Probably more than any other crazy activity. The bad part is Meg's job is only set for September to May and the 2008 Tomatina is August 27 (before she gets there) and the 2009 is August 26 (after her job ends...) W

Another Year, Another Move

So after moving about 95% of our junk about 10 miles north this Saturday, I figured out that I have moved 11 times in the last seven years. 11 times sound impossible? Well lets not forget summer sublet apartments. You know the crazy part? I actually in enjoy moving. Almost all of those moves I moved everything on my own, and the ones where I had help, I moved the heavy stuff. Couches, furniture, desks, TVs, boxes, it seems like it wear me down and make me want to scream... but it doesn't. I don't know how to explain it. I guess its some sort of personal competition. I want to see if every year I can lift the same heavy crap I lifted the year before without getting absolutely worn down. I gotta say, I'm holding up pretty well. My family came up to help us with this move. It was interesting, had to take a couch over a balcony, manuever it gently through doorways, and run up and down 3 flights of stairs countless times. I didn't even realize that I accumulated a great deal

All Time Greats and The Chicago Situation

Last night Marieta argued with me to change the channel during the lottery because we had to pack after eating dinner and wanted to watch something we would both enjoy. I said as soon as I find out the Bulls pick (figuring 7, 8, or 9). You should have seen me light up with the move up, followed by the number one pick in the draft. Now, after reading a lot of conjecture about who Chicago should pick (a lot of system fitting, paint scoring, and trade talk) I have come to my conclusion about why the bulls need to take Derrick Rose. When someone asks you for all time greats who comes to mind? Jordan, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Bill Russell, Walt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, and possibly Shaq. They are the only sure fire all-timers. Now you may disagree but look at the transcendies of these players. Jordan is the only guard to lead a team with no post threat to a championship - let alone two threepeats! Magic is a 6-9 all in one player who killed Dr. J in his rookie year finals debut series. He

NUMBER ONE PICK!!!

THE BULLS HAVE THE NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK!!!!! THE SECOND GREATEST DAY IN BULLS HISTORY!!!! First thoughts? 1)Saddly, Michael Beasley should be our choice (sad because we NEED paint points, and I LOVE Derrick Rose) 2)Mike D'antoni is searching through his knicks contract for an exit clause! 3)We can have any coach we want! 4)Playoffs here we come.

Check Please!

With the Draft Lottery tonight I thought I would take a peak at the top earners in the league as reported by hoops hype.com . Salaries are close to reseting and payrolls will be refreshed come July, but come around the Finals its nice to laugh at dumb GMs. Only three of the Top 10 (or 11 since there's a tie at 10) highest paid players in the league deserve their paycheck. Look at the fiscal foolishness in the league Pre-"Spurs Copy-Cat Mania" or Before the "C.B.A. Got Its Act Together": Stephon Marbury, 2003, Phoenix gives him a 4 year $76.8 million extension (signed through 08-10) Michael Finley, 2001, Mavericks sign him with a 7 year $102.2 Million contract (they buy him out 5 years later) Allen Iverson, 2003, the 76ers extend four years $76.7 Million (The Iverson experiment has failed) Now Shaq is a dinosaur, and KG will be falling apart when his contract ends, but how can you say those teams were in the wrong? KG made the Celtics relevant and Shaq brought a

And Down Go the Royals!

I am not trying to dog a cancer survivor/world series winner/no hitting pitcher Jon Lester, but you know that locker room is gonna be full of Royals jokes. Come on, how could they not... Now, I don't want to talk about this, but I have must. Byron Scott lost that game last night. If you watched that game last night than you know the Hornets lost to the Spurs. To know why, check out the box score . Explain to me why Peja played 44 minutes when he was shooting garbage? Morris Peterson played 24 minutes with 2 for 7 shooting. Please. Byron obviously got a case of Veteran Fever. Julian Wright, hard nosed D-centric rookie, was an energetic piece that kept the team moving and stuck like glue to his opponent. It was obvious from the first quarter that Manu was gonna hit some series shots. Why leave Morris Peterson in when Bonzi Wells would distrupt his shot so much more. Why let Peja over help when you know Julian Wright would cover Bruce hardcore and those open 3s would dry-up. These Pla

Basketball, LOVE IT

Did you see that Celtics-Cavs game 7? I loved the refs in the 4th quarter. They just let them play, possibly to a fault. Missed calls on both ends, but no ball whistles. God I loved it, and it was nice to see Lebron cry in his beer at the post game press conference. Now, let me just say. The FOOLS who will tell you the Pistons are poised to beat the Celtics are getting a little head of themselves. The Pistons fell apart vs. Lebron and his cast of garbage last year. The Celtics kept Lebron down until Game 7 where nothing was gonna keep him caged. Lebron needs no great sidekicks. He could use B and B+ players but with his highly flawed teammates, coach, and personal defense he carried that team to the brink of defeating a monster of a team. The Pistons on the other hand got reversed swept last year when Lebrons third and fourth options last year were Donyell Marshall and Drew Gooden. ESPN has been saying he has no sidekicks on that team but lets list the shooters: Daniel Gibson, Sasha Pa

A Week Late but Here's My Mothers Day

We went to San Simeon. Check it out. The video has been crapped out a bit due to the upload and the audio at the end should have been edited so you could hear Marieta and I talking but oh well. here it is.

John McCain is Old and Forgetful

Not to be a jerk... but I think this confirms it.

How Hot is It?

Image
Damn hot. Seriously, why global warming have to ruin everything. First the polar deaths, than the crop yields go down, and now I am sticky and sweaty all day? Come on people, pick a side! I remember people saying when we moved out here that practically no buildings come with A.C. because you don't need it... well I don't want to get ahead of myself too much, but WRONG! Check it out, that's me on the bus heading home from work. If haven't guessed it by now I have nothing to talk about. Okay, well off to my 85 degree apartment to watch The Office and Earl Finales. I hope all is well wherever you people live. (by the looks of it that would be California, Iowa, New York, and Washington for the most part) Peace

Reporting LIVE From The SF Library

The California Supreme Court has labeled the ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. Now that is something. I don't know if this is a first of its kind type thing but it is most definitely cool. Beyond the fact that it is just the right thing to do, it is also something that I can cover for work :). That's right, I am out in the sweltering heat strapped with a heavy backpack slingcaming the cheers and jeers on cbs5.com, check it out. (it's over 100 degrees in some parts of the bay area today. Hooray for global warming) I don't have much to say other than that I've been editing down the stuff I shot from our weekend in San Simeon. I'll give you a better look later on this weekend but I thought I would cut right to the good stuff, so without further wait, here is the good stuff. Cheers!

California is Awesome

Image
I wont lie to you. California does not disappoint. Unless your dream is to move out to Los Angeles and be a movie star, California will not disappoint you. How can I be so sure? There are just too many adventures, too many beautiful sites, too many awesome towns and cities, and even sitting on your but in California is better than sitting on your butt anywhere else. What prompted this statement? I'm glad you asked. These are pictures from our trip down to San Simeon for Mothers Day. So cool. Hearst castle, beaches, tasty fish, good times with the parents, even wild turkeys! Check out the rest of our photos to see how wesome it truly was. I also took a bunch of video but that will take a little longer to get together for public display. If someone told you that California wasn't the greatest place in the US, they obviously went to L.A. and no where else. There is just too much awesome to contain in one state. There is a reason 1 in 6 Americans have lived out here at some poin

My Social Network Is Collapsing

Image
Effective approximately 11am, Pacific Standard Time I will be killing my Myspace account. Why? I don't know. I have been considering it for a long time and I just don't care about it anymore. You know the last time I actively attempted to update/manage my account? You don't? Well neither do I. It's an ugly site and boring. Take account myspace peoples, you are about to lose one E-friend. !!UPDATE!! Turns out that you Myspace takes to days to process cancellation requests. Lame

The Office Has Run Its Course

Sorry dude, it's the truth. The characters are impossible to believe. Apparently Jim wants to try at his job. why? So he can see his girlfriend all day and its easy? Michael tells a high school kid that Pam will "do him" and she doesn't just quit? Ridiculous. Michael who may be a dimwit, has zero brains now and makes every mistake in the world. I don't care if you've become complacent in your job. I am positive someone in that office would sue his ass off. What's holding them back? What is holding all these characters back? My main issue with this show dwells on Pam and Jim. In reality they should be gone (in the T.V. Universe), the end of next season. The problem there is where's the show? You can't have the only two characters that people identify with just up and leave the show. Pam as a human being cannot continue being defaced on a serial basis and Jim cannot continue bleeding his soul down a drain. Sure people stay with jobs they hate (I'

Get on the Bus

Just for the hell of it, I am riding the bus to work today. That is all. Oh and Go Celtics.

Let's Geek

Last week I was dancing around the web while Marieta and I were watching a show that shall remain nameless. I found a list of things guys need to give up by the time they turn 30. Well I'm only 25 so I have some time before any of this matters (not that I would follow it anyway). One of the things mentioned was no longer going to movies with robots, superheros, comic books characters, and basically time travel goodness on opening weekend. Marieta laughed and laughed and laughed. Well ha! I saw Iron Man anyways. BY MYSELF! Wait... that's kind of a loser move. Who cares, it was worth it, and I'll likely do it again. Why am I posting? ... OH YEAH! On Monday Marvel Comics/Movies released its movie production plans for the next few years. After Iron Man destroyed the box office this past weekend they couldn't have scripted a better moment to let everyone in on the good stuff. If you go to imdb.com and search marvel enterprises you see these awesome names listed: Iron Man (20

Can the Democrats Carry the South?

Hillary is still in this thing, and she appears to be in it for the foreseeable future. How do I know? Well she leant her campaign another 6 million last month. I don't think you just start slinging bags of cash around a month before you drop out of the race. She is gonna hold out until the last super delegate declares. Live with it. Last night Indiana and North Carolina held their primaries. What did they decide? Nothing... but they may have shown something quite interesting. Now I don't have any numbers but I have to believe that African American voters are coming out in numbers never seen before. What inspires someone to vote? Issues? sure. Wars? yeah. Seeing yourself in a Candidate? Hell yes. Barack Obama appears to be someone who looks you in the eye and makes you want to grab a shovel and start digging. He makes you want get off the couch and get to work. He doesn't pander to black voters as the "Black" candidate. He doesn't wave his former drug use in o

My Next Phone... Hopeflly

Image
I am so far ahead of myself it is sad. Meet the HTC Touch Diamond . Yeah it's sexy, 3G, wifi, 3mp camera, blah blah blah... but it doesn't come out in the US until the second half of the year. Now if this were normal circumstances that would suck because I haven't been able to get a new phone for close to two years but if this comes out in September I am set to go. The sad part is this phone will probably look different and have some different features once it his the US streets. PLUS! No specific provider has been released so that means Verizon will probably not pick it up. They have a way of leaving the cool phones out of their artillery. Lame. What is it with European companies and their need to make devices exclusively cool for the eastern hemisphere. Maybe you don't know this but I have been researching what phone I want when this peace meets its demise and I will make the right choice. Right now, I'm thinking this guy. Go to htc.com and check out videos of

IT HAPPENED AGAIN!

Image
WHY?!?! What have I done to deserve this? Why does this keep happening to me? Let this be an example to all those who witness- Do not listen to others when you have a feeling in your gut. Do not buy plane tickets until you know its time to buy. Marieta and I bought our tickets to fly home last week. 700 bucks. Now we are keeping our eyes open for our flight back in June. So I’m sitting at my computer this morning and I take a peak at the prices (they are ridiculously over the top right now). A thought hits, hey let’s see how we made out on our flights for this month. I go to farecast.com and plug in the particulars… $115 bucks cheaper. Wait a second, this can’t be the right date. The right time? Mother chunking piece of stink. OH MY GARSH!!!!!!!! I COULD KICK A THREE LEGGED PUPPY (okay that’s a little far but I am upset). We got burned for 200 bucks on our Christmas trip, now 115 this trip. That is 315 bucks the air transport industry has suckered out of us. I WILL NEVER BUY TICKETS BE

Awesomeness to the Max

Did you see Iron Man? I sure did. Not only did it rock, it rah-ha-awk! The only thing I would change about that movie is make it twice as long. Could there be any better casting than Robert Downey Jr? Okay, maybe Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura, but other than that no sir. The weekend don't stop there folks. I know most of you don't live in California but when you do (because I recommend you all do before it floats off to sea), you have got to find some places with amazing fish. Saturday I found another. Since we're moving in a couple weeks Marieta and I eat try to eat at Alameda places before we git outta he-ah. Saturday night we checked out the hobnob on park ave. Its a bar with a pretty small menu but the menu looked pretty promising: Cuban Sandwich, Mini Burgers, Fish & Chips, and four varieties of fries. I was dancing between the Fish & Chips and the Mini Burgers (damn you Iron man for making me want a burger [if you saw it, than you know what I'm talking about])

El Cerrito, We Have Lift Off

Marieta and I have gotten the go ahead. May 22nd, we will start moving into our new apartment, and heaven of heavens, it has a washer/dryer in unit. Maybe this is foreign to some people but a good number of units in the bay area and Chicago were w/d less. Its pretty sad. HOWEVER! Marieta and I are no longer in that state and hopefully never will be again. In other news, Marieta and I attended our first "Evenings for the Engaged." What is that? Well, couples who are gonna get married in a Catholic church have to go through these premarriage counselling type deals. Its basically a way for the church to make sure that couples are taking everything seriously and kind of see whats before them. By "what" I mean eternity and working to maintain a relationship. Sweet stuff. E-4-E (as it will now be known) is not really counseling as much as it is a chance for couples to speak with a married couple and other engaged people. It was a nice time. Took a Foccus test, where you a

Pat Boberg: On Assignment

Forgot to post this today with my Skull post. Here is a quick little shot I took with my phone driving over the bridge Oh and here's what I was up to today. So that's all exciting; however, I didn't get to see the skull Wednesday, and today was the wrong day for KFC thing.

Even Seven Minutes is Too Much

You know something is tedious and tiresome when it pays your bills but you can't stomach it for 7 minutes outside of work.
