I Live in California

I have been living in California for two days and I love it. Blue skies, breeze from the bay, nice people. Good Stuff. I drove over 2200 miles in a Penske 22 foot truck pulling my car but man was it worth it. Wednesday I start working at my new branch and from there it's on to the moon. or something. P.S. a minor perk is I no longer have to stay up past midnight for west coast sports. Like tonight I would have been in bed for hours missing the best NBA game I have seen in years; Mavs vs Warriors game 4 in Oakland. Crazy steals, buzzer beating shots, half court shots, tons of lead changes, with the Warriors pulling out the W right at the end. I do regret that I missed every Bulls playoff game thus far but that will change shortly. Hope your part of the country is treating you well. peace

Google Life Map

So I discovered a cool new way to map out my life, discoveries, and opinions. On Google Maps you can create your own map. Put points of interest, give directions to people, place pictures in your map of these occasions, blah blah blah. That's not exactly what I'm doing. I'm just telling the story of P@. Where I've lived, food I love, vacations I've been on, concerts I've been to. It's pretty cool and not even close to where it shoud be at this point. I have the link on my main page. Check it out. Feel free to steal my idea. I actually would be pretty excited to read your map. Right now it's only places I've lived and a couple interesting side notes. There will be more. OH YES! There will be more.

Why You're Cooler Than Me

Being that I am a super cool person you should take this as a compliment. It's official. Here's why: 1) I now watch Friends on almost a nightly basis. That's right. I who used to be so up in arms about Friends and sitcoms in general watch Friends almost every night. Marieta has shown me the error of my ways. The first half of the show (prior to Ross marriage to Emily) is as actually funny and original. All the interactions between friends are played out as if they are in romantic relationships. It's funny to watch to room mates fight over the other "cheating on him" by looking at a new apartment. The second half the show (Monica and Chandler together) is about six eccentric people who seem to follow the eternal ben stiller charactor ideology of let's do everything possible to make every situation.as completely over the top and unbelieveable (yet still hilarious) as possible. I think this is why Chandler is my favorite charactor to the end. He is the only

Something you don't care about

College Basketball. Since Illinois went 99.9% the distance a couple years ago (Damn you Luther Head) I've become a super fan of the game. Naturally I read a lot of commentary on it. My favorite commentator/game caller is Jay Bilas. He just gets the game, how teams work, and what makes a quality player. However he said something on ESPN that I totally disagree with about Florida and their retention of twice championship coach Billy Donovan: "...in my judgment, family considerations aside, Donovan turned down a better job [Kentuck] than the one he has... Florida is a really good basketball job, but it is a really good job because of Donovan and the work he has done there. Kentucky is a great basketball job for anyone. With a really good coach in charge, Kentucky simply has more resources, more fan support, more national interest, and more to offer any coach." I don't believe this to be the case. Florida is a better school because of Donovan but recruits are gonna look

Listening to Bloc Party

Union Station was bult originally in 1881 and while it has gone under several renovations (the most recent being 1992) it still has the worst heating and cooling system in the nation. Saturday the high temp was 14 degrees, I am guessing it was roughly 15-20 degrees at my desk and I had to sit in it for 6 hours. Sitting for 6 hours in 20 degree weather is as close to hell as I've ever come, and I've eaten dog food from a can. 20 degrees is only the intro. Sunday the high in town was 4 degrees and yesterday it got up to -1. Sunday I was only there for three hours but good lord it was harsh. Random notes: I randomly started reading Our Band Could be your Life and Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs again this week. Highly reccommended. While I find Klosterman to somewhat of Proud Past-romanticizing Ego maniac, he comes up with good theories about random crap and has a few great stories. If you don't care about music or his love for basketball atleast read the chapter in Fargo Rock Cit

The Facts

When Marieta and I first started dating one of the things we talked about was where we wanted to live; she listed Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Boston. I listed: Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Philedelphia (sp?), and about nine others. She'd done Boston, we're doing Chicago, and next on our list is greater area of San Francisco. If you happen to be a recovering Star Trek fan than you know that Alameda is where we keep our nuclear wessels. Very cool, kind of home cooking type feel. Half suburb, half beachtown. So the main motivation for now as I already stated is Grad School. Back @ ISU I made a list of schools I wanted to go to (Iowa, Minnesota, Syracuse, others I forget) I don't want to go to any of those now. If you don't know the bay area Berkeley is like 15 minutes from Alameda and San Jose State just down the bay. Both of these are schools that wet my beak. So we're moving. Now there is main motivation. If you know me you know I like adventure. Moving aro
