Explain This to Me

So in the mid 90s there was a massive campaign labeled "Character Counts." It appeared mainly to keep kids off drugs, away from the streets, and just not be jerks. Over the last few election cycles it appears one of the major points of political pundits is candidate likeability. After all the recent scandals in American politics it appears character may count, but its immeasurable.

Reading about former New Jersey Governor McGreevey (the guy outed for having a gay trist while in office) I am amazed that these people can slide past all the scrutiny of a campaign. Spitzer, McGreevey, Mark Foley, Larry Craig, the Governator... It appears that the media thinks these sex scandals are bigger than they actually are. I mean hiring a prostitute is illegal, and using state or federal funds for your love romps should be punishable by castration but I dont think the public cares. Bill Clinton was more popular after Lewinsky than before. Maybe it endears the public to them, makes them human.

hmm... time now.... 7am. PEACE!
