1452 miles later I'm rocking the island

So I drove from Ames, Ia to South Setauket, NY. It was pretty cool. I mean besides the fact I drove a Uhaul, it didnt have a tape deck or cd player, and it didnt have cruise control. Oh well I'm here and it was cool. What I really want to talk about is the three movies I watched in the last two days. First we'll start with the movie I just finished: King Arthur . Dude, I thought it was pretty cool. Despite some things in the end I wont spoil that I didnt want to happen and a few hammed up actors. I am gonna buy that beast on DVD. Sweet battle scenes and I liked Clive Owen as King Arthur. Although I gotta say my favorite knight is Tristan. I mean he had a falcon on his wrist, he was cool, calm, and collected, and I just thought he was cool. I wanna name my first born son Tristan. Okay I watched Collateral and it was cool and all but I was dissappointed. I didn't want the ending to happen that happened. But if you know me you know that I love endings where the bad guys ...

Another reason to love the internet

Okay so I just finished reading an article about Natalie Portman and thought "Hmm...Natalie Portman sure is cool (and mind-numblingly hot.) I think I will go to Imdb.com and see whats up with her and the biz." So I jumped on comp and when I got to Imdb I relized that even though Natalie Portman is mega babe from beyond the moon, I really wanted to see what Zach Braff is up to (Zach Braff directed/wrote/starred in Garden State alongside Natalie.) And let it be known that Zach is one busy guy. He wrote another two movies and is starring in two others while directing another. Did I mention he is doing all of this while promoting Garden State around the world. I was bumming around Imdb message boards and found out that Zach Braff has a blog that he updates frequently with whats going down in his life. So I google "Zach Braff Blog" and found it. http://www2.foxsearchlight.com/gardenstate/blog/ Yeah it's that easy. If I could go back in time and I think h...

Watchin UNC school Iowa right now

Man let me tell you this is a bloody second half. Iowa Is getting beat like they are the retarded son of the king in the dark ages. This isn't even a game anymore. This is the MAUI CHAMPIONSHIP GAME and there is 13 minutes left and the score is currently UNC 77 - Iowa 53. Wow, that's a win. I am getting excited for this year. Iowa beat Texas and Louisville. That's pretty huge. That gives me hope for ISU because that means they could pull down a big win over Texas and maybe get up there in the 20s of the ranks. I am not a real fan of Iowa schools football. I am a fairweather football fan but in Basketball I like the ISU basketball team. They are my in state team and Syracuse and Illinois are my out of state team. Illinois because I was born in Illinois and wanted to go there when I was a little kid and Syracuse because I want to go there and they are insane. Yup, basketball season is starting up and I am getting the fever. I think this year and next year are gonna be good f...

I've got nothing against Mondays...

But today is freaking ridiculous. I have been sitting in the library for the last hour doing nothing but dicking around the web. I read the times, the tribune, went to espn.com and read everything worth of value, checked out strangetalk, imdb...I've been everywhere and done everything worth of value and I still have an hour left before my next class. I should have just gone home and played some more NCAA 2005. Classes? Oh hell they are great, I am predicting this grade report: A, A, A-, B, C. That would be the best grade report I have gotten since 6th grade...If that isn't crazy I dont know what is. I wish I had brought one of my books with me today because this is agonizing. Maybe I will go check out the standings of my favorite teams again. I hope your day is nowhere near as boring as mine. Later kids.

Video Games are the devil

So today was a great big mmmmmeeeeuuuuhhhh. I went to my only class, came home, ate breakfast, and than proceeded to play NCAA 2005 football all day. I set up a dynasty last night and I'm chuggin it out. I'm playing every game because I don't really know how to play very well. It's rocking dude. At first I was only playing it so I could be good enough to kick Adam's ass. (If you're reading this adam watch out! Because the hawks are gonna be laid to waste by the Orange soon enough.) It's pretty late. I was gonna go to bed at 11 but than Sam and I got to playing. I beat him 53-27, after that I figured what the hell I'm on a role let's get back to the dynasty. I took down Virginia first try. Let me tell you this, Syracuse is not a very easy football team to navigate. I'm pushing those bitches as hard as possible. The first few games I couldn't figure out passing so I had Reyes rushing for about 250 yards a game. It was crazy. Alright enough t...

Reviewing the Civil War

I occasionally check out this website www.strangetalk.net where I post some things when I feel so inclined. Recently in the politics section someone raised a question about the civil war in relation to the south. "Was it a mistake? Should we just have let em go?" Interesting question. Assuming he means that Iowa is part of the union and The union wouldn't have fought to restore the south into the union. It's an interesting idea. What were the major reasons for going down south and kicking some slavedriver ass? Keeping the states together? Economic reasons? and at the end emancipation? It's kind of a boggling idea. I mean, morally, we did the right thing. Who knows how long the south would have enslaved blacks but now the North is truly paying for their ignorance and unwillingness to change with the social flow. Could you imagine The boundary lines? I dont even know which states were part of the south. Were Ohio and Indiana? I don't think so. WAIT! T...

Fixing up the Blog-age 11.7.2k4

Dudes, check it out. I decided if I was seriously going to try and make a blog out of this thing I gotta have some replies. I dont expect to get a bunch of them but this way if I post some stupid/mean/crazy ideas people can just jump up on this thing and punch me in the face. Sound good? great, grand, wonderful. I(so did every other democrat) got an email from the democratic party asking what I think they need to do better in preperation for upcoming elections. I laid down my ideas, hopefully they will take them to heart. Because they needs to get to work. Alright I am out of shit to say besides I saw the movie Motorcycle Diaries. That was a pretty good flick. Makes me want to learn Spanish and check out South America. Viva la revolution. Later taters.

I Guess This Proves Something or My Concession SpeechBy Patrick Boberg

Well obviously yesterday was the general election and in just under two hours John Kerry is going to give his formal concession speech. I think we have all learned something here. I've learned that no matter how hard you believe in a candidate and the ideas that he pushes, you can't teach a person your complex stance on what they consider to be a basic issue. Everyone talks about the republicans as such great campaigners but it's a lot more simple than even that. Republicans give you their stance in one word answers. They dont explain abortion on several plateaus, they just say they are against it. They tell you all the facts and stats on why gun control is bad they just say they are against it. They don't tell you the war was good for every reason in the book they just tell you they are doing the right thing. They give it too you in the most dumbed down way you can get it, and John Kerry gave it too you in the most intelligent way you can get it.I loved John Kerry ...

Gotta run to the Kerry Convention

Okay I gotta run to the kerry convention but here is a song I really dig by Denver Harbor. Denver Harbor is a new band, with the singer from Fenix Tx singing, check em out. Way Back Home - Denver Harbor To download this song just right click and hit save as target. ROCK!

I dont feel any shame, I won't apologize

Whats up. How about that Vice Presidential debate last night? I thought it was gonna be pretty good after John Edwards immediately started calling Cheney a willfully deceptive bastard at the beginning but it turned into a snorefest. Neither of them came out and beat the other with a bat like I was hoping. I guess Cheney learned that you can't solve all your political problems by telling your opponent to just fuck off... Anyways, I'm chilling out in the Library holding off my homework for a bit. I am listening to the new Green Day which I picked up a couple weeks ago. Damn this thing is freaking great. Ya know I tried not to listen to any of the hype before the album came out, but I was a little set off by the single American Idiot intially. Now I am freaking rocking this record. Totally a rock n roll record. I think the song Jesus of Suburbia is probably the best song they have ever written. I will post that song up here sometime so you bitches can all get a listen. AND THAN!...

It's Friday and I'm a cool guy

How about that Kerry last night? He just dominated that debate. Anybody catch how many times George Bush said Hard work? Well thanks to Bill O'reilly I know. 15 times. That's ridiculous. Now normally I would never quote Bill O'Reilly but man that is funny shit. Back to the subject at hand, It's Friday and I'm cool. I have spent the entire evening chilling out here in my room. Not because that's the cool thing to do but because I have FOUR tests next week. Yeah, that's a lot of testin. So I decided maybe this one night I will be responsible and get some hardcore studying done. I know, I know, that is some alarming shit but it's true. Last night I went to a lecture at the MU with guest speaker Morgan Spurlock. He's the guy who did that movie Super Size Me , in it he eats only mcdonalds for 30 days. It's a pretty good flick, and so was the lecture. After the lecture I checked out the super size me website and than checked out the website for the...

Chilling on a Sunday with Good Will Hunting

So It's a been a good weekend. I am just chilling out, finished my homework, I figure, what the fuck I might as well watch a movie. So I bust out Good Will Hunting, I haven't watched it in like 4, maybe 5 years. I run it down, I'm in the moment and what not and than Matt Damon's character Will is interviewing with the NSA. He ends up giving them a run down on why he shouldn't work at the NSA. Here it is. Will: Say I'm working at N.S.A. Somebody puts a code on my desk, something nobody else can break. So I take a shot at it and maybe I break it. And I'm real happy with myself, 'cause I did my job well. But maybe that code was the location of some rebel army in North Africa or the Middle East. Once they have that location, they bomb the village where the rebels were hiding and fifteen hundred people I never had a problem with get killed. Now the politicians are sayin' "send in the Marines to secure the area" 'cause they don't give a ...

Okay, I'm through kidding around

Seriously, I am all about this crazy son of a bitch. Listen to this song and tell me you dont love him too. http://www.travismorrison.com/mp3/travis_morrison-whats_your_fantasy.mp3

What do the old people teach us besides how to die?

Okay in all seriousness you need to buy "Is a Real Boy," the new cd from the band Say Anything. Yes Say Anything is a movie but here I am talking about the band. I am listening to it right now and oh my goodness it is up for one of my favorite cds of the year. AMAZING!!!!! Hey, did I tell you that Chris is in Italy till late January? Well he is and you know that means. I am given the keys to the candy store and it's time for this little piggy to stuff his fat freaking face. But in all seriousness I am in control of www.eightmilesout.com and all internet business involving Eight Miles Out. And since the other half of the material genius isn't in the country I would say I am also at the wheel of destiny for 8MO as well. It's kind of crazy. I have to finish up these song ideas I have. Dude, school is here and let me tell you... it's not so much fun. I would rather be on a spinning wheel while drunk aborignees (SP?) fling razor sharp platypus talons at my balls....

Moving on up, Moving on out 7.27.2k4

Yep, it's everybodies favorite time of the year, move out time. I have been in the process of moving my shit out of my house in Ames into a storage unit and than on Sunday I will move it all into my new place. It will be one crazy ass ride. I'm gonna miss living with the beanbag. We had some hilarious times together. This year I living with Adam from the Lifestyle and Sam. We are living like five miles away from campus. I don't really care because our place is nice and campus, schmampus. I dont have anything to do at home so I am just wasting time at the library on the internet. Alright I'll talk to you cats later.

Welcome to P@ school of Budgeting

So here's the story. It starts with the week before spring break so like March 12th or so. I bought a new guitar, Fender Strat 1963 Reissue Tomato Orange, and it is freaking nice (Bought it myself.) Than I go home to Long Island the following week and buy a Mesa Boogie Head for 700 dollars. After just paying it off a week and a half ago I decide what the hell, I need a new guitar. So Let's bring you up to speed on P@ gear. I still have my Mesa Nomad 45, I still have the California Pro Valley Arts Custom Guitar, and I still have my Fender Toronado. But many other things have switched around. I traded my fat strat for the reissue, and I just traded my simple strat for a Gibson Les Paul Junior with the double cutaway body design and P90 pickups (I know I Jordan already has that guitar and it's kind of lame to own the same guitar as your roommate but it is a kickass axe and they didn't have gibson SG x which is my next piece) and the new Mesa 50w head. So I am rokken like ...

I am one broke bitch

So I have succeeded. I paid off my Mesa Boogie. $700 has vanished from my bank account as of two minutes ago. Credit is both a wonderful and horrible thing. It allows me to get what I want now but I have to cry later when my cash leaves... :( now it's on to bigger and better things! Powerbook, here I come!

It's Summer and I couldn't be happier

Now I dont mean to piss off anybody who is still in school but damn do I love the fact it is summer. I finished my finals a week ago today and what have I done since? I have hung out, worked, worked out, and had some quality laughs. Take today for example. I slept till 1215 or so, went to the wreck, ran into Bethany and her roommate Mandy and we decided to get some panera after we finished working out, we got panera, and than I chilled otu and Dylan and Ben swung by. Now I am just hanging out before I go to work. My next paycheck is gonna be over 200 dollars and with the tips I will be making this week I am gonna be so set and on my way to that powerbook it's not even funny. I cant wait to buy that bitch this summer. Saturday night I started working on my movie idea and I think I may have an entire movies worth of material to scribble down. I only have one taker besides myself to be in the flick. I am gonna need some more of you chumps. So come on throw your hat in the ring. H...

Chilling at the U of I

Wow, I update the frontpage and Life and times in one day, what next I review the aerosmith show as well? who knows. As the headline says I am just chilling in Iowa City. I finished up my finals on Monday at 8pm and now I have a couple weeks off before my summer class kicks into effect. I just want that bitch to be over with so I can just rock out this summer. I stand to make a lot of money next week and that is nothing but good news because I am gonna pay off my newly acquired Mesa Boogie and start saving for my Powerbook. I WILL HAVE THAT BY THE END OF WEEK! Tonight should be a rather crazy evening. Elliot Tommingo, bass player for Half the Facts and one of my best friends, turned 21 yesterday and we are going out tonight to celebrate. I'm sure it will be a crazy time. I plan on taking pounds of digital pics and video. Speaking of video, you should check out the main page of Stunt Bunny because there is a link to a video I made over a year ago. I never finished editing it and...

Are credit card companies insane?

So I just finished doing my taxes for the year and I went outside to my car to get a stamp for the envelope. On my way back inside I checked the mail to see if there is anything cool for me. Well there wasn't but there was a credit card application. I never look at them because I get about 5000 a year and I dont want/need a credit in my life. I have my Guitar Center card : ) and that is all I need. But I decided to check this one over and see what they have to say. Well first off they want to give me a Chase Manhatten Bank Platnum Visa with a $100,000 limit. An amount like that can be summed with one easy movement, my jaw crashing to the floor. Ontop of the limit they are gonna put a 1.99% APR on it and no annual fees. Do these know who I am? I love to buy things, spend money, but I am no fool. Credit is a dangerous game my friends and if you just stumble into it like a kid in a candy store you are bound to get your ass reemed. That is just insane. $100,000. Do you know what I ...

Late Nights and Dog Fights

So here is the story I'm sitting around, doing the late night "I'm bored so I will look through all the 'people who are on my buddy list but dont know it' profiles and see whats shaking in the world. I find a link my buddy Chris (singer for my old band AKA) to his girlfriend's art webpage. I like art and dig photography so hell I can check this monkey business out. Turns out she has a Liquid Bliss (the band that formed in the ruins of AKA after I moved back to Iowa) video and I thought, hell I miss seeing these wacky guys I'll watch it. The video is pretty hilarious. Three kids from Michigan being dorks (which answers why they were my friends) in front of a camera and talking about their band. Hell I was even mentioned a couple times. It's a pretty good video but I have one major problem. They talk about "Fun Dip Cool Aid" and man if there is one original thought I have had on this Earth, that is it. Back in 8th grade I saved all my gatorade...

Chilling out, looking at warped tour dates

So I wasn't going to go see the Warped Tour this year but than the Sounds signed up and and hell if I am gonna pass up seeing them. I got a regular list rocking here. wanna see it? Alkaline TrioAquabatsBig D and the Kids TableNOFXRise AgainstThe SoundsTaking Back SundayThursdayThe Vandals those are the ones I most looking forward to seeing this summer. Hopefully a date will work otu where I can see all of them. But probably not. I mainly just want to see The sounds. So whatever date of theirs works out best for me, I am going. word. Later yo.

Stigmata and the fun of the catholic church

So I just watched Stigmata and I gotta say the fact that the catholic church doesn't recognize certain gospels is BS. While I guess I can understand the fact if you just recognize everything you come along you could be getting a whole lot of bogus stuff but I mean shouldn't they atleast put these Gospels out for the public to make their opinion? That movie on the other hand was pretty... ok. They needed to kick out the love story and just go with the dogmatic shit. I know, I know, religion wont sell in Hollywood but come on you're doing a movie with an Arquette, is that gonna sell? So kick that love shit out and just run with the wierdness. Hell, The Exorcist didn't have any love shit besides a priest who loved his mom. Whatever. See that flick and make your own opinion. On a semi-related note, I went to church for the first time in three months tonight. Never been to this church, so as my mom likes to say "make a wish." The priest was a native of ireland...
