I Guess This Proves Something or My Concession SpeechBy Patrick Boberg

Well obviously yesterday was the general election and in just under two hours John Kerry is going to give his formal concession speech. I think we have all learned something here.

I've learned that no matter how hard you believe in a candidate and the ideas that he pushes, you can't teach a person your complex stance on what they consider to be a basic issue. Everyone talks about the republicans as such great campaigners but it's a lot more simple than even that.

Republicans give you their stance in one word answers. They dont explain abortion on several plateaus, they just say they are against it. They tell you all the facts and stats on why gun control is bad they just say they are against it. They don't tell you the war was good for every reason in the book they just tell you they are doing the right thing. They give it too you in the most dumbed down way you can get it, and John Kerry gave it too you in the most intelligent way you can get it.I loved John Kerry but it doesn't work that way. America is a country of ignorance.

This proves that the candidate you are supporting can't have multi-tiered opinions on the issues. John Kerry voted for the war, but tells us he is against the way it was executed, he says he believes that we needed to oust Saddam but it was the wrong time to do it. Our party chose the wrong the candidate and the right candidate was Howard Dean. He was a strong voice who was anti-iraq war and didn't waiver. He told us straight up without subpoints his feelings and he was confident and had some charactor.
I think the liberals, myself included, bought the spin that because Howard Dean had one crazy yelp so he couldn't be the president. He was the Bill Clinton of this election and we bought the idea that he was unpresidential. The race is over and we chose the wrong horse. The democratic party's mantra was "never again," and it's a sad state of affairs but I believe that mantra still applys. Never again can we just be a stupid mass who falls victim to the medias voice of who our candidate should be, never again should we give up on our candidate in the primaries just because our guy is losing and never again should we leave our election in the hands of unease and the unknown.

John Kerry and the democrats now know you can't appeal to the common man with the language of a philsopher, you need to appeal with the language of Dr. Suess.

In the words of my good friend Aaron wagner, "Ignorant America, you deserve everything that is coming to you."
