Playing with Kids: How I Learned to Holster Our Firearms

Image
Kids and I get along like potato chips and cottage cheese, so good it's scary. Every time I go to a family function, friend's party, or meet new people I always end up becoming their kids best friend. There's no secret to my awesomeness, I just play with kids the way they want to play . Want to pretend the backyard is the ocean? Great, let me grab my imaginary surfboard. Have a load of dragon toys? Fantastic, I've been itching to burn down a castle. Want to draw or make a ton of noise? I was going to do that anyway. One of my longest running fans is a fun kid named Nolan, who is the son of my wife's best friend from high school. On our fifth or sixth date Marieta submitted me to her friend for approval. On the whole I'm a generally likable guy, but introduce me your kids and there is no way to say I'm anything but the coolest guy in town . Nolan might have been 18 months old, but we hit it off practically as soon as we introduced and have been buds e

Celebrating 31 like I'm 5

Image
Yesterday I celebrated my 31st birthday. While 31-years-old is not a milestone, any birthday is a reason to take a personal day from work and have some fun. So how did I celebrate? The best way to phrase it was coined by my good buddy, Jordan Jensen, when I made this birthday breakfast post on Facebook. He was right! My birthday was totally a five-year-olds dream. Let's break it down. Breakfast: Chocolate Chip Pancakes with Cotton Candy milk (yes, that is a real thing and readily available in Kansas City.) Lunch: Pizza at Fongs (grown up toppings, but pizza is every kid's favorite) Afternoon Snack: One Dozen Donuts . No, I did not eat them all. Dinner: BBQ Ribs the Big Steer in Altoona. No 5-year-old is going to eat ribs, but look at that ridiculous steer. Plus, when they heard me say it was my birthday, Marieta and I go to split a free hot fudge sundae ! Booyah! If only there was a go kart place to hit up, my day would have been perfect.

Waiting for Auroras

So the buzz across the super highway today was there are supposed to be awesome auroras around midnight tonight... I'm pretty stoked to check em. Only thing is I have to kill some time until midnight so... What's Up? heh... All kidding aside, how's it goin? Been a while huh? What have I been up to? Well... I went on half of RAGBRAI last week. That was pretty cool. Invited my dad and Jordan along. It was a load of fun. I can't wait to do it next year. Hopefully it will swing through some places I have never been before (like this year.) Of course I took some pics and videos but I'm going to wait to unleash that until I get it my Dad's pics. He stopped all over the place for pics. Mine were mostly taken from my bike while cruising along. Can't wait to see my pics? O-kee, here are a couple to tide you over. Here we are (or more appropriately Jordan and my dad) riding into Clarksville on our first day of the ride. Pretty cool little town about 20 some miles into

For The Record Trailer

So I compiled all the footage I have of eight miles out (and high jinx) and made a little documentary. Here's a little teaser. If you want to see it you're gonna have to visit http://stuntbunny.blogspot.com

Much Love For Megapixels

That's me and my new phone, the LG Dare. Touch Screen, 3 mp camera, great video, in camera effects for video (slow mo, fades, edit). Good stuff. I like it a lot; however it is an example of my lust for new tech gear, and to that end... Best Buy is putting vending kiosks in major airports. A little late to this game if you ask me, but still one more thing to tempt me from parting ways with my money. Working the early shift at channel 5 this morning, one of the anchors was cracking wise about guys and tech goodies. "Oh I needed it, I needed it." ...Is that true or what? Tech toys for guys are the equivalent of clothes and shoes for girls except much more expensive so we can't indulge nearly as much; however, that won't keep us from spending hours oogling cameras, tvs, mp3 players, software, etc. Oh man do I have this bad. You know in Waynes World where Wayne finally buys that Fender Stratocaster (a guitar that I don't consider all that awesome [even though I

There Will Be Sleepiness

It is the 8th straight day of Patrick Boberg sleep drought and predictions are he wont see any relief until the weekend. Source close to the situation are reporting the embargo started as Boberg took on too heavy a workload around Wednesday last week when he started training for new responsibilities at his TV news job. Boberg experienced a minor amount of relief over the weekend; however, accepting two weekend shifts while also entertaining his parents from out of town negating small amount of excess sleep he garnered. Our attention now turns to Patrick Boberg's attempt to weather his workload this week. As If working 4 a-m to 1 p-m each day till Thursday wasn't enough, Boberg has recently as yesterday afternoon has experienced trouble with his afternoon nap. After quickly relenting to his inability to fall asleep, Boberg stayed up through most of the afternoon watching Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will be Blood . We are told he thoroughly enjoyed the film. Concerning his n
