Before You Buy a House

Buy a snow blower-well, if you live in the midwest that is. What stupid luck. We move back to Iowa, buy a house, and within our first month of home-ownership the state sees the worst snow fall in my lifetime combine with blizzard winds. Not fun. By my count I have shoveled out 7 driveways and the street (thanks living in a new neighborhood) all within the past 4 days. Good times. I may sound like a whiny little girl but when it's all said & done... I kind of enjoy the shoveling, I hate the sitting at home. Driving to work from Des Moines to Oskaloosa is pretty dangerous when the state can barely keep the streets clean. The streets should be clean by tomorrow, which means I'm back on the clock. Let's hope Sunday forecast of freezing rain is unfounded.

Because Jacob Made Me!

We are coming up on the Film Review special at work and Jacob had mentioned that he was considering putting together a "Best of the Decade" since they are popping up around the interweb. Initially I was against it because the decade truly ends in 2011... however including 2000 allows me to drop in some of my favorite films and I love lists (who doesn't?) First things first; this list will probably change in like 5 years when I finally see all the flicks I've missed over the last two or three years. Now... chow on this: P@'s Top Ten Films of the 00's 1) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) 2) Almost Famous (2000) 3) DiG! (2004) 4) Happy-Go-Lucky (2008) 5) Once (2008) 6) Lost in Translation (2005) 7) Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) 8) Inglorious Basterds (2009) 9) Snatch (2000) 10) Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? (2001) A quick explanation: Eternal Sunshine ~ not only does this flick have some of the coole...

Declaring my Interweb Dominance

You probably know that I'm big on posting little videos on the web. Well it seems only fitting that with my 500 Babbling Scribe post I declare my web video dominance! Why may you ask? View Count. Okay, so I'm not viral but I'm close. Earlier this month I discovered this little contest on Lonely Planet's youtube channel where you post "My Journey" videos. So I used the video I shot from our honeymoon and entered a "My Journey- Kauai" piece. Care to watch? No? well too bad. Well, I made that pretty quick just to toss my hat in for a chance at the top prize (a week trip in San Francisco and other treats including a sweet camera). I still figure it is a shot in the dark that I will take home that prize but dudes... As I publish this post that video has 9,946 views! That's incredible. The closest I have ever come to an amount like that is my crappy video of fireworks in Chicago from three years ago, and that video only has like 3k or so. I guess peop...

Iowa Farm Crawl

Last month Marieta and I checked out the Iowa Farm Crawl. Here's a little looksie I put together.

The Wonders of Video & Sound

Was there ever a better time to work in video than the 1980s? Movies and everything got better but to me the creme de la creme is 1980s music videos. Everything look so terrible but yet people loved it. If I were in a band making a music video today I would definitely do it in the vein of The Buggles (Video killed the radio star) and Flock of Seagulls. So damn cheap look but classic. Sadly today music videos are worthless (mainly because no one plays them on a basic cable channel). That wont stop me though. Check out what clicked in my brain about 8 am this morning. Sweet? Oh... not sweet... Well I enjoyed making it. Anywhoooo! Have a good weekend. Peace.
