Hot feet

As of yesterday I can average 6.58 minute miles. I am still running my 5ks and yesterday I broke the 7 minute average mark for the first time since I started this whole craziness. My best mile time ever is 6.46. I feel like I should just sprint out a mile to see if I can get like a 6 minute mile. That would be amazing. Every kid out there has that dream of being the fastest man on the planet. It must have something to do with the olympics. Maybe Michael Johnson. That guy was kind of speedy. Well time to go talk about stereotyping and hegemony. Get down while the getting is cheap. Later kids.

Putting some spice in the soup

So last night Elliot, Wags, Porter, and I got together to play a little poker. 5 card draw, texas, omaha, and Chicago Hi/lo. Good times. Everyone except Ben had the chip lead at one point and it went late. we started at like 9 and the last two men standing were Wagner and I at 1215. I should have and could have won it all but I was getting tired and played with my balls to the wall just to see if I could find a means to end the game. Best 5 bucks I ever lost in a poker game. I really felt like I made some solid moves. I'm looking forward to playing again but this time, winning it all. In other news this weekend I am going to Chicago to spend the weekend with my displaced mother. She's out in Cali, might get a job offer out there, and if she gets the job she wont be free to swing through the midwest at the drop of a hat. So, I'm going to visit her and my relatives to celebrate my graduation and all the what not. Oh, did I mention I got the info in the mail, ISU says I'm ...

Seriously, I'm bored

Could life be anymore boring right now? Bah. I'm really tired of class and this whole routine. Something exciting better happen soon.

Good Lord I have been lazy

So my computer has been turned off since Saturday (I'm in a computer lab before class) when I reformatted it and I still have yet to take it in to get it cleaned up. I have no idea whats wrong with it. Maybe I reformatted it wrong? I have done it several times in the past. What could I be doing wrong now... hmm... I am pretty much swamped in assignments right now. Adapting a short story into a screenplay, Recording 5 episodes of a news show and writing a 5 page review of its approach and content, meeting with a conversation partner of a different culture, a debate over Materialism versus religion, and of course next week there is a test in one of my classes. Can I just say balls? Balls, balls, balls. With all this homework where is there any time left over for the xbox? Man, even though I am busy, I am just flat out bored lately. Bored to the core. I need to take up underwater cave diving or something. Maybe get a job, but that just seems like it would add more boredom and demands ...

Wishful thinker with the worst intentions

So last night I saw Jimmy Eat World and Green Day in Des Moines. It was a great show. Not the greatest show ever but damn they rocked. Surprisingly they didn't play many songs... Whatever it was rockin. Quick little update here. My computer is on life support right now I don't know whats up with it. So I am using Friley's computer lab to check my mail and right this thing. Alright I'll leave with my favorite Green Day song (which they didn't play, but I didn't expect them to). Green Day's "F.O.D." Something's on my mind It's been for quite some time This time I'm on to you So where's the other face? The face I heard before Your head trip's boring me Let's nuke the bridge we torched2,000 times before This time we'll blast it all to hell I've had this burning in my guts nowfor so long My belly's aching now to say Stuck down in a rut of dislogic and smut A side of you well hid When it's all said and done it'...

Woke up today and started a fire

Rescue Me was intense tonight. Top to bottom. That is my favorite show currently. Wouldn't miss it for an orgy featuring every fantasy girl I've ever harbored...well maybe that. But let's just say you're missing out if you aren't watching that show. Took a shower and started watching some high fidelity and man that movie rocks. I might have a slight man crush on John Cusack, but only cause he is freaking cool. He hasn't done any good movies since High Fidelity but he's cool as hell. Anyways that movie is all about break ups and Cusack dealing with his break up demons. It got me thinking. Maybe the worst part about having a long relationship break up is the fact you come out of it with pretty much nothing to show for it. I mean people know it happened but I mean you put in three years of work, thousands of dollars, faithful committment (if you're not an asshole), and thousands of man hours and pretty much the only thing you get it is like a month or two o...

I hurt

Yesterday I played an hour of football on the turf at the rec and today I played an hour and a half of basketball. I haven't played football in FOREVER. My muscles were not ready for that, let me tell you. All that lateral movement. I think linebackers are cool and all but I am definitely not one. I mean I work out 4 or 5 times a week but these muscles are tight as hell and they burn. Just when you think you are working all the muscles in your body you find a new set to hurt. Right where my legs meet my hips I am so tight its crazy. P.S. Rescue Me is a kickass show. Firefighters rock. P.S.S. Go State, Screw the Hawks, Packers, and Vikings.

Strange Encounters

Do you remember the first time you met some of your goodfriends? I mean you just see them and think "we're gonna be good friends." I can run down the list and tell when I met pretty much all of my goodfriends. Dan Givens I met in first grade but we didn't become good friends until 4th grade. I knew in 4th grade we'd be best friends. I remember meeting Elliot in 3rd grade and him doing the thing where you get a week to be the special kid in class and telling us about his brother and he had this handheld mic w/speaker built in. I thought he was cool as shit and sure enough in 5th grade we became good friends. I remember being introduced to Chris in 5th grade, he was new at westridge wearing overall alls with one of the straps undone (stylin it). Ben I met in 3rd grade, Mrs. Woodward's class, Wags I met in 4th grade and our first interaction was swinging on the swingset at recess talking about NFL teams with hot cheerleaders (4th grade...so cool). I remember meet...

Ladder 49

Dude, I love firefighter movies, shows, stories, whatever. I just watched Ladder 49 and dude that movie just kicked some ass. I've mentioned before my man crush on firefighters and how I kind of want to be one. After watching that movie I am all about it. AH! I don't really have much to talk about... Fast paced weekend. Went out with the guys on friday, tailgating yesterday (not too long but it was hot), Met some peoples in town last night, and today I worked out and watched ladder 49. SO MUCH FOOTBALL. I mean it's not a bad thing but I am looking forward to some good football games not 60 point blow outs. What games were cool? Illinois vs. Rutgers and Louisville vs. Kentucky. I didn't get to see the ISU game because for some reason it wasn't on TV. (BULLSHIT) This Virginia Tech/NC state game is pretty sweet. I dig Virginia Tech. I'd call em my dark horse for the rose bowl. I love listening to these commentators "Look at Marcus scramble! NOW LOOK AT MICHEAL...

Always Something

What is going on? This year I hear atleast two people a day walking around singing along to their Ipods. I hate ipods, for several reasons. I used to walk to class everyday with a cd player because I thought listening to music was cool but now I never do. People used to say "I saw you walking to class but didn't come up to you because you were listening to music." So yeah, that kind of sucks. Like take today for instance. If I had been listening to music on my way to class I wouldn't have heard this cute chick who needed help with some journalism thing she was doing. I mean I didn't hit on her or anything but there was the interaction. I just had another tragic NCAA episode. I'll spare you the details. But today has been three things: Class, NCAA, and working out. As soon as Elliot wiggles on down here we're gonna hit up FAC. Rock on comrades. Daddy loves ya.
