Scoring a 5 Alarm Fire

This past winter I once again leant my scoring talents to a friend's documentary project, "Iowa's Firefighting Family." Produced in 2011 the film tells the story of volunteer firefighters in Iowa (which makes up 90% of Iowa's firefighters), with the detailed story of one family of firefighters from Harlan, IA.

My friend Jacob Rosdail produced the film along with mutual friends Aaron Riggs and Amy Langdon. The film airs June 5th at 7pm on IPTV... but if you can't wait, it is also streaming on IPTV's website. If you'd like to taste a slice before you buy the whole pie, here's a excerpt:

Recently Aaron screened the documentary to a packed house of firefighters in Ames, Iowa and Jacob posted this awesome letter on his film production blog "Cat Basket Films":

Iowa Firefighters Association President Jack Runge wrote the following e-mail after the screening:
Aaron and Jacob
I wanted to send you a note to thank and congratulate you on the finished product. We had a full house for the viewing and the comments were outstanding.
It was an emotional event for many in the room as most of the time no one pays much attention to their dedication to what they do. When this airs all of Iowa’s Firefighting Family will walk a little taller in their boots.
Please pass along to all involved on this project my personal thanks, and the thanks of Iowa’s Fire Service.
Sincerely,
Jack Runge
President
Iowa Firefighters Association

Jacob is one of my really good friends, and he uses my music for a lot of his productions, including his award winning 2011 documentary "Step Together," a story about Pella, Iowa's attempt to set the world record for largest collection of people dancing in wooden shoes. If you're a fan of documentary films I highly suggest you check out Jacob's work, again his website is CatBasketFilms.com
