Let me say something real quick

Grey's Anatomy is awful. I used to like it but I can't get over it's repetition and clickéé. First off ABC loves the voice over crap. They love to tell us these little morals and riddles that make the episode just a little cuter. Stab me in the eye with a shoe horn. Come on every show in the world is using voice over now and Grey's Anatomy was not the first. Desperate Housewives and Scrubs (and Grey's Anatomy steals a lot from Scrubs). Another issue I have is their musical interlude. 90% of the episodes have this heartfelt song play at about 40 minutes into the broadcast and it ties all the characters emotions together under onemelancholyy song. Horrible. It happens all the time. I can't take it. AND THE CRAP THEY DO IN THE HOSPITAL! People screwing all over the place. All the relationship talk/friends drama being talked about in front of patients, and cutting peoples cords so they get sick. Never in the world would she do that and if she did they would kick he...

The Last Stand and the multiple universe philosophy

Before I go on let me warn you, I give some spoilers to X Men the last stand in this entry so if you want to read this monkey maybe you should wait till after you check out X Men: The Last Stand. All right, with that said... X Men: The Last Stand was great, but also infuriating. The following people die: Professor X, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and supposedly Rogue, Magneto, and Mystique lose their powers (albeit not permenantly.) These are all things that the comic nerd in me hates. Magneto is too power and cool a character to ruin him... but than again Prof X did brain wash him in Ultimate Xmen so it's not too far off. Luckily we see at the last second of the film that Magneto still has some power in him (so he'll probably recoup it all) and Xavier magically appeared in Moira McTaggert's patient. So I have developed a theory. Just like how comics taken several writers version of comic universes to make a million different comics I think these movies are someone's interpretat...

It's Shibby Out Today

Just bopping by to show this (which I nabbed from ESPN.com): About how great Oscar Robertson was: "We hear about "The Big O" averaging a triple-double for one season (1961-62), but he actually averaged a triple-double over the first five seasons of his career (1960-65) when the games are strung together. In those 384 games, he averaged an astounding 30.3 points, 10.6 assists and 10.4 rebounds. " Holy frigging crap, a triple double over three seasons? That is amazing. He was ahead of his time. Truly underappreciated. Two bad he was a jackass in the locker room. About how great Magic Johnson was: "Given his age (a rookie at age 20), the stakes (NBA Finals), the opponent (Dr. J and the 76ers) and the fact that he moved to center to replace injured legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic's 42-point, 15-rebound, 7-assist, 3-steal effort in the title-clinching Game 6 of the 1980 NBA Finals was probably the best individual performance of all time. It could be argued tha...

Heat burning down the Nets

Image
I would be watching the Heat destroy the Nets right now but I can only take in so much destruction and considering the Heat opened the second half with an Alley Oop I think there isn't gonna be a lot of change in the game for a while. Have you watched any of the playoffs? Good stuff this year. Really compelling. I love sweep series and everything but these series are drama filled. Too bad the Bulls couldn't pull it out... I wonder if they would have given the Nets a series as well. Probably, I mean their defense is pretty blinding. Dude, as the game returned from commercial TNT was playing the Blink 182 cover of Dancing With MySelf by David Bowie. Don't get me wrong I love that song and Blink will always hold a special place in my heart (espcially their early stuff), but that song did not fit and sounded like horse crap. This can only mean that the guy running the sound in the TNT prod truck is cool and I should be his friend. Today I found out I will be a Sam Ash Live Sou...

Patman Returns

So I finally got everything I own out of Iowa... I think. Alex has a couple of my drum things but otherwise I have it all. My apartment in Ames is empty. Kind of nuts. All done with ISU and Ames. The weekend otherwise? Great. Stayed at Jordan's, watched the Clips beat the Wiz (damn you Gilbert Arenas), played some video games, golfed, watched the Lakers get raped by the Suns, cooked out. It was great. Jordan had to work all Saturday so Marieta hung with Bethany while I got my junk out of Ames. We got back together Saturday evening and went to this new Des Moines bar called EL Bait Shop . Really cool place. It had like 80 taps of crazy beers. Here are the taps and the beers I tried: !!!THE TAPS!!! (two pics poorly put together) Now I don't know what you think but this wall is pretty impressive. Marieta and Bethany told stories about places they've been where the wall was as big or bigger. Seems pretty crazy. Only dissapointing part here were a lot of the beers I had heard of...

Back in the hood

Image
Hey boys and babes, I am rollin in Iowa this weekend. Seeing Jordan and getting the left overs from my apartment (my bikes, amp, a couple other pieces of crap). I would be out doing something right now but I am waiting for Marieta and Bethany to get their act together. You know ladies, gotta make sure they look all lovely and what not. Watched Mr. Mom this morning. That movie rocks. I love Michael Keaton. He is one of my top 5 favorite actors of all time. Couple Days ago Batman Returns was on TV, Today Mr. Mom. You know what movie is great but they never show because it is kind of depressing? My Life. I love that film. In other news I am writing this on JOrdan's laptop. I hacked into it... I'm that sweet. Actually I just remembered all of his passwords from when we lived together. Anyways I changed his background from Darth Vader to this: Admit it, that is funny. In other hamster related news I want to go to Second City comedy school in chicago. check it out http://www.secondci...

Ain't looking for nothing, but a good time

How can I resist... God Poison hits the spot at 5.25am. That's right, I am up way too early, I am shattering far too many Unemployed stereotypes right now. NO! I didn't stay up all I night. I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. Just thought I would post SOMETHING here because I haven't since the superbowl. I really wanted the seahawks to win but knew they wouldn't, oh well, it's only a game. I have to say I read a lot of bullshit on myspace. People pontificating about utter crap. I mean I may pontificate but at least it's about quasi meaningless crap like movies, music, and sports. Get off your pony. Hail Satan.

Too Early or Too Late

The clock currently reads 5.08 and I am up. I woke up at 3 and couldn't fall back asleep. Got out of bed at 4 and I have been dancing around strangetalk since. I have been re-reading my old posts. Is it good to be nostalgic (sp?) at 5am. I mean it just makes it worse. You are up way too early, you are way too sentimental, and have no one to talk to. That really sucks. I used to post a lot about Eight Miles Out. I miss my band. Reading those posts I can just see a dumb kid who loves his band and pretty much loves rocking out. God I wish I was in a band. Maybe I should try and start one here... Oh by the way, I haven't found a "career" job yet but I am most likely going to be working at Sam Ash (2nd biggest guitar store chain) on Monday. I should make some good money off that. It also seems almost criminal to be working in a guitar store and not be in a band. Illinois, Illinois... I wish someone would give me a job. As far as I can tell the most powerful people on the p...
